  • The new characters fit into the universe very well. The races to which Di"Vorra, Ferra/Torr and other creatures belong were mentioned earlier in one way or another in comics and books on the Mortal Kombat universe. The game shows several versions of the same characters at once. All this is due to the fact that in The plot constantly contains flashbacks from the past. Examples: young Kotal Kahn adult Kotal Kahn is already in the rank of ruler of the Outworld, young Sonya mature Sonya elderly Sonya. Young Kenshi mature, elderly Kenshi, has already lost his wife and is already an adult son. The character skins are very interesting. There are also variations on the theme: young Liu Kang from the Mortal Kombat tournament mature Liu Kang after being enslaved by Shinnok Liu Kang zombie Quan Chi. By the way, these zombie skins are only unlocked online. There is no other way. They are even in there is no crypt. In the crypt there is only 1 additional costume for (almost) each character in the game. And they must be bought with coins. Coins are earned in different ways. And quite difficult.

  • The game has very beautiful graphics, the screenshots look like you are already taking pictures in photo mode. But there is one remark: the drops of sweat, IMHO, are too large (see the 2nd screen from above), and when the character’s face is all wet and he is in the rain, his skin is somehow too shiny (see 1st screen from the bottom).

  • What I would like to praise the developers for is the updated Crypt. Now this is, one might say, a separate game mode, a game within a game. First-person view, dungeon crawler atmosphere, even a mini-map and coordinates are present, and a movement system a la Eye of the Beholder. The atmosphere is added by random attacks of various animals - spiders attack in caves, some creatures like wolves in the forests, etc. This is very unexpected and scary. You even shudder. You must press the button shown on the screen in time to repel the attack. If you made it, then they will give you a few coins as a reward; if you didn’t, the monster will hit you, bite you, claw you, the screen will shake, blood will splash, and then the beast will run away.

I would say that gloomy music, the ominous whistle of the wind, magical traps appearing here and there, sudden attacks of animals - all this will be even worse than the most disgusting and sickening fatalities. Well done developers. In the Krypt you can discover different character art, fatalities, brutalities, costumes, music, concept art. Sometimes you come across chests with coins. But not everything is so simple you can’t just get to many locations of the Crypt you need to solve a puzzle (sometimes even a whole chain of puzzles) or use a special item.

When I wrote above about the dungeon crawler, I wasn’t joking - there is a large map of the Crypt, secret locations, an inventory with items that are used for various needs: for example, Raiden’s Staff is used for teleportation on special platforms. All these items represent key parts of the equipment of different characters in the universe there is, as written above, Raiden’s Staff, there are also many other items (more than 10), among them Scorpio Chain, etc. Sometimes at a certain location you hear strange sounds, reminiscent of the sound with which house elves in Harry Potter teleport. This means that a magic chest has appeared at the location, it appears for only 1-2 minutes, then it suddenly disappears and appears in another place, all this lasts about 10 minutes, you are chasing the chest, sometimes you see it right in front of you, but a column in front is in the way , while you turn around (oh, this isometry, like in Demon Geys), by the time you reach the chest will already have time to slam mockingly and disappear, and then after a minute or two appear in another place. This is especially interesting when the location is pitch dark.

So, to summarize: The Krypt in Mortal Kombat X is a large gigantic location, divided into various regions that differ from each other in their surroundings, types of attacking monsters, appearance of tombs with secrets (cocoons with mummies, tombstones, etc.). There is a large map, there is a mini-map. We walk around with isometry, like in a dungeon crawler, the music changes depending on the location, there are always all sorts of gloomy hoots, gasps, sighs, growls, crying, laughter, gurgling in the throat. We go along the coordinates X:** Y:**. Sometimes animals attack; you need to repel the attack in QTE. There is an inventory with items, these are key items from the Mortal Kombat universe for solving puzzles and in order to open a previously inaccessible location or a secret room. There are various traps, magical teleporting chests. Objects must be found in different places. Then return to where you previously could not go and use the item to solve a puzzle, or to overcome an obstacle/chasm/trap. The puzzles are very interesting and multi-level.
